Patricia
Corbell knew early on she wanted to be an artist. Her father built her
first studio while she was in college. A native Kentuckian she received
her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Murray State College, and her Master of Arts
from Southern Illinois University. She painted commissioned portraits for many years before embarking on an extensive travel and research program abroad where her attention was turned to capturing on canvas the timeless beauty of God's and man's creations.
Corbell's
artistic path has progressed to include landscape
paintings in plein air as well as studio. Her aim is not to copy but
to recreate the feeling of actually being there when her work is viewed.
In 2003, Corbell was juried into the Oil Painters of America.
One of her paintings, “Ragtime”, won an International show
in Long Island, NY and it will be in a traveling exhibition in Europe
starting in July, 2004.
Several of Corbell’s paintings will be on display in the Chelsea
district in New York City.
